Callard wants some home joy after Arms Park win

RGC head coach Jon Callard has called on his side to deliver an early Christmas present to their followers on Saturday and secure a first home win of the season in Super Rygbi Cymru.

Callard issued the rallying call after the Gogs came from behind to win 28-22 at Cardiff to secure a first league win at the Arms Park since April 2018.

Tries from fullback Dion Jones, No 8 Sam Williams, outside-half Billy McBryde and scrumhalf Conor Dever, all converted by McBryde, ensured RGC headed back north with five points.

For Cardiff, wing Joe Goodchild, hooker Alun Rees and replacement Gavin Parry were on the scoresheet. Steff Crimp kicked two conversions and a penalty, but the Blue and Blacks would have to settle for just a losing bonus point from what was a third straight defeat.

Meanwhile, this was just RGC’s third win from 10 matches, all three of which have come on the road. They have also been victorious at Bridgend and Pontypool.

Next up is the return meeting with bottom of the table Pooler at Parc Eirias and the opportunity to complete a league double over the Gwent men. RGC have lost all four of their home matches this term.
