Gallants had an edge over Siwelele

Congratulations to Marumo Gallants on winning this year's CUFA Cup after defeating Siwelele FC in the final.

This week we hear from former Orlando Pirates striker Thulasizwe Mbuyane
I have to say the tournament lived up to expectations, with good football on the field, and a great atmosphere off the field. What I noticed is that Marumo Gallants played great football, but Siwelele also showed they can play. I don't know much about either team, in terms of the players they have, but I had a feeling that Marumo Gallants had a little bit of an edge over Siwelele. They both played good football, and we must also understand that coach Lehlohonolo Seema wanted good results, so it was an interesting game overall. I played for Free State Stars against Bloemfontein Celtic when this competition and the festival were still called the MACUFE Cup, so I know what it's all about - it's a good tournament where young players get a chance to raise their hands and show the coaches what they can do. It is a special tournament because players enjoy playing in cup competitions, whether they are friendly tournaments or not, as doing well in this competition gives players motivation going forward. Players, especially the upcoming ones, need to grab the opportunities they get in a competition like this, with both hands because that will help them going forward. It's a good platform for the players and a good spectacle for the supporters. So, yes, it was exciting to watch.

Adams faces race against time
Jayden Adams' international future hangs in the balance, and the countdown has officially begun. With just one month remaining before Hugo Broos finalises his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, the 24-year-old midfielder finds himself in a position few would have predicted two years ago. Once a rising star of Stellenbosch FC and a standout performer at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, Adams now faces the harsh reality of reduced game time at Mamelodi Sundowns and uncertainty around his Bafana Bafana role. The player who earned his way into Broos' plans through hard work and consistency has slipped into unfamiliar territory at club level, and his national team prospects have dimmed as a result. The Siya crew has been tracking his situation closely, uncovering worrying signs behind the scenes as Adams fights to keep his AFCON dream alive.
