A youngster from Jarrow is now the proud owner of a British Citizen Youth Award in recognition of his community work
Luke Hedley became a British Citizen Youth Award Roll of Honour recipient for his work in creating safety whistles.
Luke used his Christmas and pocket money to purchase a 3D printer, which he used to create the whistles - selling 740 of them to raise £1,650 for the Northumberland National Park mountain rescue team and #BeAdventureSmart campaign.
A Year 9 pupil at St Wilfrid's RC College in South Shields, Luke received his award at a Palace of Westminster ceremony, hosted by TV presenter and former Blue Peter presenter Tim Vincent.
