Remembrance Sunday is always a sombre occasion, but on the evening before, while honouring the service of and the sacrifices made by the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces, the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance offers an uplifting occasion.

As ever at the iconic Royal Albert Hall this year’s event promises to be as notable and poignant as ever, as it commemorating as it does the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of the Second World War in 1945.
The theme is ‘Service Not Self’ and, throughout the night, will honour the courage and sacrifice of those who fought and lost their lives.
In addition, personal stories will bring to light the experiences of those lost in more recent conflicts — connecting the past with the present.
