Major £20m investment will be lifeline for neighbourhood

A £20million decade-long investment lifeline is set to bring positive change to an economically deprived South Tyneside neighbourhood.
Biddick Hallis to receive funding from the government's Plan for Change programme with Premier shop owner Tarsem Singh backing the scheme.
The Biddick Hall estate will get a £2million jackpot each year until 2036 under new plans unveiled by Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
It will be used to rejuvenate local shopping areas, improve green spaces, and boost the provision of community centres.
Mr Starmer claims residents will be in the driving seat and will decide what is targeted for improvement.
