Drink-driver hit 89mph on early hours shop run

The case was heard at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court.

Harry Gibb, 23, floored his Seat Leon on the dual carriageway John Reid Road in South Shields in the early hours of Wednesday, October 29.

But Gibb, of Ullswater Gardens, South Shields, was spotted by patrolling police who pulled him over, prosecutor Christopher O'Brien said.

He had downed three cans of alcohol and not eaten and had driven about two miles before his drunken antics were brought to an end.
