Summer Festival opens in style with whole host of great events
Sevenoaks Chronicle
|June 26, 2025
FESTIVAL Fair marked the opening of Sevenoaks Summer Festival 2025 in grand style last Saturday.
-
The annual event was enjoyed by all who attended during the day with events and activities held in Bligh's Meadow, The Shambles and Stag’s Footlights Bar, living up to its promise to offer fun and entertainment for the whole family.
The day began on the Youth & Community Music Stage, where the Merry Mondays Ukulele Group gave a dazzling performance before, resplendently robed, the Town Crier, Chris Conlan, introduced the Mayor, Cllr Tony Clayton, who declared the Festival officially open, to the background of jazz from Strings & Things beside the Bligh’s clocktower.
Delightful young singer and guitarist Amelie Lucas followed the Mayor before Britain's Got Talent star, Juggle-it all's Allan Swan, gave the first three frantic performances.
Then came ex-Wizzard drummer Charlie Grima, delighting folk with his piano playing before Marling Morris dancers entertained the crowd.
Knole Academy’s Year 8 band followed and, finally, Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra gave a stirring jazz concert to close the day.
