Development needs cross party support

MOST of us would choose to live out our lives surrounded by friends or family.
Unfortunately that choice is increasingly denied to us. Too many are dying in a hospital or in a temporary care home provision because of our housing crisis.
Our retiring generation are stuck in family homes. The Conservative administrations both nationally and locally in the past decade have failed to have the foresight to build homes suitable for our baby boom generation to “right-size” into.
Our MP sees the issue of housing entirely through the frame of wishing to protect the green belt. She rails against increased housing targets as a potential blight on our landscape. Indeed they might be, but they do have to be built somewhere.
She consistently fails to point out that there are some deadly implications of not building them.
Here is the true picture. The Conservative district council have failed to build enough houses - about 250 a year for the past decade when 700 a year were required.
