A CHALK and cheese romance proved one of the TV comedy hits of the 1980s.
Three Up, Two Down launched on the BBC 40 years ago this month in 1985 and proved a showcase for the comedy talents of To The Manor Born’s Angela Thorne and Boon star Michael Elphick.
Angela played super-snob Daphne Trenchard with Michael as the Cockney rough diamond Sam Tyler. They found themselves having to put aside their differences to share the child care duties of their new baby grandson Joe.
