ALLOWING MORE PUBLIC SAY ON NATIONALLY SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS
CLLR Carol Ross is the new Mayor of North Lincolnshire. Unlike the Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, the role is ceremonial. Cllr Ross was chosen at North Lincolnshire Council's AGM, held again at Normanby Hall.
The AGM also saw a new deputy council leader selected. There was also a constitutional change to give the public and councillors a greater voice over nationally significant planning applications in North Lincolnshire.
NEW MAYOR'S CHOSEN CAUSES
Macmillan Cancer Support and Jen's Special Place are Cllr Ross's chosen mayoral appeals. Asked why she had chosen these causes, Cllr Ross said: "Jen's Special Place is a child bereavement organisation local to Scunthorpe."
As for MacMillan, she said: "I support them greatly." Cllr Ross added: "They have been fabulous for me. I have had family members that sadly have passed away due to cancer, but they've been a huge support."
On what she looked forward to most in the year ahead, she said: "Just presenting the county in the best light possible and championing the county." Cllr Janet Lee is the new deputy mayor.
