Maswanhise's not for sale, insists Askou as O'Neill watches on at Fir Park

- BY BLAIR ESSON

MOTHERWELL manager Jens Berthel Askou insisted the club have no plans to sell top scorer Tawanda Maswanhise during this month's transfer window.

The Dane was speaking after the forward fired the Steelmen into the fifth round of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup with the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Ross County at Fir Park.

Maswanhise was the standout player throughout and he turned home Lukas Fadinger’s pass shortly after the hour mark to give Well the lead.

The hosts passed up a number of opportunities to kill the game off and County came close to forcing extra time, but keeper Matty Connelly made a superb late save from Kieran Phillips.

Maswanhise's goal was his 15th strike of the season, while the Zimbabwe star also scored an eye-catching goal at the Africa Cup of Nations last month.

Only Lawrence Shankland has scored more goals in the top flight this season, while Celtic manager Martin O'Neill was seen in attendance at Fir Park yesterday, although Berthel Askou revealed the club are yet to receive any bids for the in-form attacker. He said: "I am calm.
