A YOUNG father has died in an accident on board a North Sea oil rig.

Lee Hulse is believed to have fallen from a crane but exact details have not yet been disclosed.

The 32-year-old from Aberdeenshire had been working on the Valaris 121 jack-up drilling rig during the early hours of last Friday when the accident occurred.

The rig is located on the Shearwater field around 140 miles east of Aberdeen and is operated by Shell. Operations have since been halted following the accident.
