With Richard Elias

MAC-TALLA, the Islay single malt whisky company has revealed the second bottling in its Lighthouse Series.

The first, released in 2024, took inspiration from the idea of a lighthouse as a "guiding light". Now, the 2025 version draws on the words "guiding hand".

In order to select the liquid used, Mac-Talla consulted with selected members of its network of EU and UK retail and bar partners.

And, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, the people behind Mac-Talla for generations, believe their new product perfectly embodies its name.

Head distiller Graeme Mackeddie said: "Just as a ship's skipper uses knowledge and experience to steer through treacherous waters, a whisky maker guides spirit on its journey from cask to bottle.

"Lighthouse 2025 is about celebrating that human touch - the decisions, the craft and the expertise that bring whisky safely to its destination."

Mac-Talla says that as a result of the process, the maritime character of its whisky also "carries the insight" of the global whisky community.
