Track down pots of gold
Scottish Daily Express
|September 24, 2025
BILLIONS of pounds are lying in forgotten pensions across the UK and experts say millions of workers could be missing out on retirement pots they're entitled to.
DELIGHTED: Karen Wright
Nearly £65billion is tied up in dormant or unclaimed pensions, according to new research by Gretel, a financial platform that helps people trace lost accounts.
Duncan Stevens, chief executive of Gretel, said it's easy to lose track of old company pension schemes, particularly if you move jobs frequently: "Few of us have a job for life now. Unless we actively consolidate our pension with each move, pension pots can quickly become lost or classed as dormant."
Gretel's data showed one in five Britons has changed jobs between four and seven times, a further 10% have switched more than eight times.
