Kemi's blast at Starmer for lacking 'moral courage' to express his views on gender row
FIRED-UP Kemi Badenoch ridiculed Keir Starmer for lacking “balls” in a Commons onslaught on his shifting views over gender.
The Tory leader said he did not have the “moral courage” to say if he still thinks “trans women are women” and blasted the PM as he refused to apologise to ex-Labour MP Rosie Duffield for “hounding” her out of the party over her gendercritical views. The stormy exchanges during Prime Minister's Questions came after Sir Keir had U-turned on his views about transgender women, following the Supreme Court's ruling last week.
Judges determined that women are defined by their biological sex for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010. That means trans women with a gender recognition certificate can be excluded from single-sex spaces if the action is "proportionate".
Sir Keir who previously said that "trans women are women" - welcomed the ruling, adding it was "time now to lower the temperature" of the transgender debate.
Meanwhile Health Secretary Wes Streeting has clearly stated that trans women are "by definition not the same as biological women", as has Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy.
