THE third member of a drugs gang has been jailed for his part in a £42million cocaine smuggling plot.

- By Richard Elias

Didier ‘Tordecilla Reyes, a Colombian national, was given 13-and-a-half years after admitting his role in the conspiracy.

Last year, Mark Moran was found guilty of conspiracy to import cocaine whilst his co-accused, Daniel Livingstone, pled guilty to the same charge.

The pair from Campbeltown, Argyll, were jailed for 15 years and seven years and nine months respectively.

Yesterday, at Hull Crown Court, Reyes was told text messages found in his phone showed “contact directly with somebody who was higher up the chain than you”.

Judge Mark Bury said it was clear that Reyes had “played a significant role in this enterprise”.

He added: “It is quite clear that you were tasked with ensuring the safety of the consignment and its onward transmission.

“You were tasked with ensuring the safety of the product and its supply onwards.”

The judge added “there was no evidence of pressure or duress or threats” adding that the South American had been “fully aware from the start of what you were to be doing”.
