Swinney blasted for bragging about Africa jaunt

JOHN SWINNEY has been criticised for spending vital Holyrood time bragging about his taxpayer-funded jaunt to Africa earlier this month.

The First Minister brought forward an emergency debate about his time in Malawi and Zambia to see what public cash had been spent on.

Foreign affairs and international aid is a reserved matter, but the Scottish Government still spends millions on projects in developing countries.

It is to prove that Scotland is a “good global citizen” although Mr Swinney has been told that he should stop showing off abroad and instead focus on issues impacting Scots, like the NHS crisis and stagnating economy.
