Summer exodus is on with July set for rain

FAMILIES across Scotland have begun packing airport departure lounges as rain clouds gather in time for the peak summer holiday season.

Amid a gloomy July forecast for Scotland, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Toronto in Canada are proving popular destinations for those seeking a break in the sun.

Glasgow’s schools shut yesterday with others following suit, although schools in much of the North East won't close until next week.

And travellers can expect much better weather abroad than those staying at home as tomorrow sees very heavy rain arriving from the west, with things look unsettled well into the second week in July.
