SIR Elton John phoned Squeeze guitarist Chris Difford every day for a year to help him quit alcohol, the Cool For Cats star has revealed.
Chris, 70, admitted his rock'n'roll lifestyle got out of hand in the 1990s, leaving him broke, suicidal and addicted to drink and drugs.
Sir Elton — who himself got clean in 1990 — agreed to became Chris's sobriety sponsor.
