SNP cave at last over separate toilets guidance in schools

SCHOOLS in Scotland must provide separate toilets for boys and girls after the Scottish Government finally published long-awaited guidance on single-sex spaces.

‘The UK Supreme Court ruled in April that the definition of sex meant biological sex, in a humiliating defeat for SNP Ministers.

This had wide implications for policies on toilets and changing facilities, although the SNP administration waited months to act.

Late yesterday afternoon, the updated Supporting Transgender Children and Young People: Guidance for schools was published.

Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth said it would provide clarity and confidence to teachers and staff.

However, the Tories slammed the guidance as contradictory and potentially harmful, claiming it will make life more difficult for schools.
