SCOTLAND SNUB WILL SPUR SHANKS TO GATECRASH WORLD CUP PARTY

DEREK MCINNES insists in-form Hearts frontman Lawrence Shankland can still bag a place at next summer's World Cup despite his latest Scotland snub.

- BY GORDON PARKS

The 30-year-old has scored seven goals in 10 outings this season to re-establish himself as the Tynecastle talisman.

However, that wasn't enough to earn a recall to Steve Clarke's squad for this month's home qualifying double-header against Greece and Belarus, with the national manager sticking with Che Adams, Lyndon Dykes, George Hirst and Kieron Bowie.

Jambos boss McInnes, however, is adamant Shankland, right, will be impossible to ignore if he continues to make headlines for his club.

He said: "I'd like Lawrence to be involved with the squad and I'm sure Lawrence and anybody else who aren't in the squad will be disappointed.
