Rise of the transformers

BACK tonight for yet another series is GEORGE CLARKE'S AMAZING SPACES (C4, 9pm). Not to be confused with George Clarke's Remarkable Renovations, George Clarke's Building Home or George Clarke's Never Off The Blinking Telly, it's the one where people transform the unlikeliest things into places they can actually live in.

- Mike Ward

By that, I mean everything from cars to sheds to shoeboxes to shipping containers.

(Actually, I think that should probably say “horseboxes”, not “shoeboxes”. But it’s still impressive, right?) This is also the series where the people George meets tend to be the most eccentric.

Those he features on his other programmes are ambitious enough, usually doing up some old house they’ve bought by bashing down its walls, ripping out its slime green bathroom etc., but Amazing Spaces meets people like Alex and her partner Doug, who can easily top that.

Alex and Doug plan to live for months in a tiny old Vauxhall Agila, snapped up for £900.

Online's fine for wine with these tips

BUYING wine online can be just as daunting as walking into a shop. That was the conclusion of a recent article in Decanter magazine. And they’re not wrong. If anything, I find the endless choice, plus variations in the information available, even more daunting. At least in a traditional bricks-and-mortar shop, you can ask for help or pick up the bottle and read the label!
