REEVES 'CAN'T BLAME TRUMP' FOR UK MESS

Scottish Daily Express

RACHEL Reeves has been told not to blame Donald Trump's global tariff war for economic problems and soaring inflation in the UK.

- By Martyn Brown

Experts cut growth prospects thanks to her "blunder Budget", said one leading MP, amid fears that her policies were stoking price pressures and would ramp up the cost of living for millions.

The International Monetary Fund warned price rises will soar to the highest in the G7 and outstrip the US, even as its president's tariffs onslaught continues.

The globally-respected lender of last resort slashed this year's UK growth forecast by 0.5% to 1.1% and also downgraded its outlook for 2026 from 1.5% to 1.4%.

In a further blow to Labour's aim to boost living standards, the IMF said GDP per head would stagnate in 2025 and barely rise next year.

Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride said: "The latest IMF outlook is a worrying indictment of Labour's economic approach.

"Less than a year into their Government, Britain is already seeing the consequences of Labour's high-tax, high-spend agenda. The IMF has downgraded the UK's growth forecast, raising serious concerns about the lack of confidence and direction under Labour.
