POLICE have announced they are re-investigating the mysterious death of a man believed to have been killed in a hit-and-run incident.

- By Richard Elias

Ian Brown's body was discovered on a road in south Ayrshire more than 13 years ago.

The father-of-two had set out to walk home after a night out with friends when he was killed.

Despite a lengthy investigation, no trace of the vehicle which is believed to have been involved in the collision has ever been traced.

Months after the incident, police received an anonymous letter which they said contained “useful information” about the background to the case. Yesterday, the man leading the new inquiry appealed for whoever penned the note to get in touch.
