PM: I am optimistic for US deal over steel

PRIME Minister Sir Keir Starmer hopes to get his trade deal with Donald Trump implemented this week to avoid a further hike in steel tariffs.
The clock is ticking after he told MPs it was set to come into effect this Wednesday.
But the Labour leader refused to guarantee he will meet the deadline as he travels for discussions with the US president in Canada.
On June 4, he said the deal will activate “in just a couple of weeks”.
Sir Keir celebrated his “really important” treaty with Mr Trump in an announcement over a month ago, but it is yet to be implemented.
