Plea to King for Scots World Cup bank holiday

KING Charles is expected to make a Royal Proclamation to declare Monday, June 15, 2026 a national bank holiday to mark Scotland's return to the World Cup finals for the first time since 1998.
The proposal will be made by John Swinney, who is a member of the Privy Council - the historic, largely ceremonial group of senior politicians who act as advisers to the monarch.
