Paradise lost in Looe
Scottish Daily Express
|March 28, 2025
HOLIDAYING last summer in the South West, we decided one day to take a little excursion, to visit Shipton Abbott on the South Devon coast. So we programmed the sat-nav for Looe, on the south coast of Cornwall.
We're no fools.
We knew that Shipton Abbott didn't technically exist. Everyone knows that by now, right? It's the fictional setting for BEYOND PARADISE, a cosy crime drama of which Mrs Previews and I have become rather fond, and which starts its third series tonight (BBC1, 8pm). Looe is the real-life place where this show is actually filmed, so we thought it might be nice to take a look around, to see if it's as nice as it looks on the telly. Sadly, we ended up staying there only briefly.
