New MI6 chief's grandad 'was Nazi spy called The Butcher'

THE new head of MI6 is the granddaughter of a spy chief for the Nazis who was branded The Butcher, it was reported yesterday.

Blaise Metreweli was announced as the next chief of the UK’s foreign intelligence service this month - the first woman boss in its 116 years.

There is little mention in public records of Ms Metreweli, 47.

She graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge having excelled in anthropology studies and was also in the rowing eight that won the 1997 women’s Boat Race.

But her appointment as next MI6 boss C ~a role played by Dame Judi Dench as M in seven James Bond films — has seen researchers trawl records to discover more about her.
