Legal remedies threat...Lady Mone with husband Doug Barrowman

Rachel Reeves is reported to have joked during a Labour conference fringe event that the Government had a vendetta against Baroness Mone.

Ms Reeves is among politicians who have called on the businesswoman to relinquish her peerage, having said she “clearly shouldn’t be in the House of Lords”.

PPE Medpro, a company linked to Lady Mone, was ordered to pay back nearly £122million on Wednesday after it was found to have breached a contract to supply surgical gowns during the pandemic. The Tories, who have suspended the whip from the baroness, have urged her to quit the Lords.
