Baby gives GB sprinter extra push
NEW dad Matt Hudson-Smith believes his baby daughter will inspire him to even greater heights as he bids to win an elusive global gold medal.
The 400m sprinter has been in a race against time on and off the track this season, with his daughter born just three weeks before he lines up at the World Championships in Tokyo on Sunday.
The 30-year-old won Olympic silver last year, his 43.44secs marking a huge personal best, European record and enough to win gold in all but one other Olympic final.
His times have not yet lived up to those heights this season amid niggling hamstring injuries and illness — but with a baby to provide for, he has extra motivation.
