Kirsty first Scotswoman to climb mighty K2
Scottish Daily Express
|August 29, 2025
A MOUNTAINEER has become the first Scottish woman to reach the summit of K2 - despite not having full use of one of her arms.
Kirsty Mack completed a lifetime ambition by scaling the world's second highest mountain earlier this month.
Her achievement was all the more remarkable because she doesn't have full use of her dominant left arm since a ski accident in the Cairngorms in 2021.
Following rehabilitation and several operations, her Surgery to Summit project set out to show that injury doesn't end ambition.
K2, along the Pakistan-China border, stands at 28,251ft and is rated one of the world's toughest peaks to conquer.
