US leader hails 'victory' in bid to halt birthright citizens
DONALD TRUMP scored a major success after the divided US Supreme Court ruled that individual judges do not have the power to issue nation-wide injunctions.
The decision by the conservative-led court was a huge win for the US president, who has been plagued by his executive agenda being thwarted.
The Supreme Court ruling looked specifically at attempts to block Mr Trump's plans to restrict birthright citizenship in the US.
As it stands, the law automatically makes anyone born in the US a citizen, including children of mothers in the country illegally. This right was enshrined in the constitution's 14th amendment after the Civil War.
