Joined-up action needed to arrest knife crime

A JOINT approach from many different agencies is required to help tackle the scourge of knife crime among Scotland's children, an expert has claimed.

The call came as the family of a teenager, who was knifed to death by another youth met with the First Minister to speak of their loss.

Kory McCrimmon was just 16 when he was attacked in May last year over an unpaid £50 debt.

He was discovered fatally injured in Greenfield Park in Carntyne, Glasgow. Kory's attacker, who cannot be named for legal reasons, later pleaded guilty to culpable homicide and was sentenced to five years' detention.

Yesterday, the teenage victim's family were in Edinburgh to meet with John Swinney.
