Continental bliss for Stu

THAT MAN AND ROBBEN Armstrong faced greats of the game with Celtic in the Champions League
STUART ARMSTRONG intends to make the most of Aberdeen's Conference League campaign because he thought his days of playing European football were behind him.
The 33-year-old, who joined the Dons at the start of the September, is gearing up for tomorrow night's curtain-raiser against Shakhtar Donetsk at Pittodrie.
His experience could prove vital for Jimmy Thelin, right, with Armstrong having starred on the continental stage with Dundee United and Celtic as well as amassing 53 caps for the Scotland national team.
With the return to his homeland coming after stints at Sheffield Wednesday, Vancouver Whitecaps and Southampton, it is eight years since the midfielder last played in Europe - a Champions League group stage game for Celtic at home to Anderlecht, who won 1-0.
Armstrong admitted: “I wouldn't have imagined playing European football again.
“So to come here and have that exposure to European football and the excitement of those games, in a different format of course as well, it should be exciting.”
Armstrong returns to the Dons squad after missing last weekend's Premiership defeat at Motherwell due to a minor injury. His absence was more of a precaution to make sure he was fit for tomorrow.
