Elijah aims to inspire next generation of Kiwi kids as Well as major Steelmen role

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

ELIJAH JUST is no stranger to a late, late show. The Motherwell man pounced in stoppage time to secure his side a victory at Livingston.

But it was nothing compared to the sleepless nights that inspired the midfielder to make his way in the game in the first place.

Just was a kid back in New Zealand when he was huddled around the television with his family watching his All Whites at the World Cup in 2010.

The international minnows returned home as unbeaten heroes in South Africa after draws with Italy, Paraguay and Slovakia, even if it led to an agonising exit in the group stages.

The current squad have already bagged their place in next summer's tournament and Just is determined to be involved - and inspire the next generation of Kiwi kids.

The 25-year-old said: “I can remember, I was up in the middle of the night watching the games. It was a big inspiration for me.
