CF patient’s comedy gig

A CYSTIC fibrosis patient who wrote her family goodbye letters before a revolutionary drug saved her life has turned her ordeal into an Edinburgh Fringe comedy gig.

Yvonne Hughes, 51, from West Dunbartonshire, was diagnosed with CF - a disease which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system — at six weeks old.

In 2018, she was told she would not survive a lung transplant and was put on oxygen to help her breathe.

She began making memories with her family, believing she did not have long left to live.

Yvonne wrote letters to her loved ones, begging them to look after her parents when she died.

But in 2020, she received a life-changing CF drug called Kaftrio, which transformed her life and drastically improved her health.
