Miller is determined to eclipse dad's Scots tally

- By Scott Burns

LENNON MILLER has achieved a boyhood ambition by playing for Scotland - and now his next target is to surpass his dad's cap tally.

The 18-year-old Motherwell midfielder made his debut off the bench in last Friday's 3-1 defeat to Iceland at Hampden before making his first start in Monday's 4-0 victory over Liechtenstein in Vaduz.

Those two friendly outings leave him just one shy of the modest three-cap haul his father Lee, right, collected from 2006 to 2008.

And few would bet against the teenager smashing that before the year is out, with the World Cup qualifiers starting in September.

Miller said: "It has been a great few days, I can't complain. I got my first cap as a sub against Iceland, and then to start on Monday was great.

"Now I just want to try to get my third and fourth. Once you get in the first camp you want to get in as many camps as you can.

"I need to show that at Motherwell. I need to play every week and play well to get in the squad because the midfield spots are tight, there's some real quality in there.

"I just need to keep doing what I'm doing to get into the next ones."
