DONS NO.1 RELISHING A MAIDEN EUROPEAN BOW
DIMITAR MITOV is on a mission to make history by helping Aberdeen reach the Europa League group stage in his first appearances in UEFA competition.
The Dons take on FCSB at Pittodrie in their playoff this evening before heading to Romania for the second leg next Thursday.
Aberdeen have a proud European history, but they have never played in the group phase of the Europa League.
They have contested qualifiers in the competition but, in terms of the groups, they have only competed in the UEFA Cup and the Conference League two seasons ago.
Jimmy Thelin’s side will drop into the Conference if they fail to see off the team formely known as Steaua Bucharest, but keeper Mitov wants to get his hands on the bigger prize.
The Bulgarian international said: “Forget the financial situations. However much money other clubs get, they get. That’s none of my business.
“But for us, as players, getting to the Europa League would be a chance to make a bit of history here.
“We have already done that by winning the Scottish Cup, but now that’s in the past.
