Amar gets over his Vienna Euro spot-kick agony by gaining penalty glory in win

- BY FRASER WILSON

THE wait was anything but Rapid. Seventy-two days to be precise.

But in the week leading up to Halloween, Amar Fatah admits there was no way he was passing up the chance to exorcise the ghost of his costly missed penalty against Vienna.

The 21-year-old kept his nerve to slot home the 84th-minute spot-kick that edged the Tangerines ahead in this bruising encounter.

Fatah could easily have got the fear as he sized up the opportunity at the same end of Tannadice where his shoot-out effort cannoned off the post in the Europa Conference League qualifier back in August.

But on the orders of Jim Goodwin the Swedish winger - who had only come off the bench seven minutes earlier took responsibility and sent Shamal George the wrong way to tee his side up for a hard fought win that lifts them to third.

It was the pivotal moment in a game that looked destined to end in a draw after Zac Sapsford had cancelled out Dan Nlundulu's 18th-minute opener for Saints.

Craig Sibbald's sweet 90th-minute strike put the icing on a big afternoon for Jim Goodwin's side. And nobody was happier than Fatah who insists there's more to come after breaking his duck on Tayside.

He said: "I'm really happy, because I had a choice to make - don't take the penalty and live with that or just step up and take it.
