Gers poised to hire Everton's Thelwell as sporting director

KEVIN THELWELL is the front-runner to become Rangers' new sporting director.
The Light Blues are close to confirming an appointment after chief executive Patrick Stewart led a two-month search.
And reports claim Thelwell is the man wanted to oversee the club's football operation.
The 51-year-old is currently employed in a similar role at Everton, although he is set to exit the Premier League club in the summer and won't be staying on as the Toffees make the move to their new stadium.
