FM's new spin on old slogan for indy push

JOHN SWINNEY has been accused of throwing out “red meat” to nationalist diehards as he launched a new paper and borrowed a historic SNP slogan.

The First Minister presented “It’s Scotland’s Energy” as he claimed that any wealth coming from renewables was “flowing south” to England.

He also made a bold claim that if the UK is broken up, Scots will be able to save “over one-third” on energy bills. But the paper failed to provide any workings to substantiate this promise.

The SNP event in a Glasgow cinema included a video package featuring attack lines about the McCrone Report on oil and gas, and frequent mentions of Margaret'Thatcher.

But the First Minister was unable to explain how he would get an independence referendum even if his party bucks the polls and wins a majority at the next election.
