Dunkirk heroes brought to life
Scottish Daily Express
|May 22, 2025
THIS courageous RNLI crew helped bring back thousands of troops from Dunkirk 85 years ago - and now pictures of the heroes have been brought back to life.
To mark the anniversary of the incredibly brave Second World War rescue mission, the RNLI has had two images of Coxswain Edward Drake Parker and his team cleaned and colourised using digital technology.
Both show the men with their lifeboat, the Lord Southborough, which they used to make the perilous journey as part of Operation Dynamo.
The men from Margate lifeboat station in Kent didn’t hesitate in May 1940 when the Government called for small vessels to sail to France to help save some of the nearly 340,000 troops backed onto the beaches by Nazi Germany’s war machine.
