Drone attacks shut airports ahead of Putin leaders' visit
Scottish Daily Express
|May 07, 2025
MOSCOW was forced to close all of its airports just as international leaders start arriving for Friday's Victory Day parade after the city was targeted by Ukrainian drones for the second night in a row.
The missiles came within six miles of the Kremlin and Red Square where preparations are in full swing for a military show of strength marking the defeat of Hitler.
Russian president Vladimir Putin has called for a ceasefire from tomorrow to Saturday which Ukraine has declined to commit to, saying it wants a longer truce.
Yesterday Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at least 19 drones had been intercepted "from different directions", with debris landing on a major road. Other Russian cities including Penza and Voronezh also reported drone activity.
