FOOTBALL: WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS.

- By Jeremy Cross

DAN BURN admits he cannot stop dreaming about the World Cup.

Burn is continuing to age like a fine wine as he scales surprising new peaks in the twilight of a dogged career.

The 33-year-old left-back set up Newcastle United’s thrilling win in the Carabao Cup last season — the Toon’s first domestic silverware in seven decades — when he scored the opening goal with a brilliant header in a 2-1 victory over Liverpool.

Now the big defender’s ambition is to be part of the England squad who hopefully reach the World Cup finals in North America next summer.

So much so that Burn cannot stop thinking about this late opportunity.
