Dentist Vogt faces tricky examination

AMATEUR Matt Vogt says business is booming at his dental practice after he qualified for the US Open at the club where he used to caddie.

Vogt earned his place at Oakmont when he swapped the drill for the driver and qualified last week.

The 34-year-old, who is ranked 1,173rd in the amateur game, turned his back on the chance to play professional golf in order to study dentistry seven years ago, before his love of the game brought him back.

After making it into the 156-strong field, Vogt's rise to fame is helping business at his Indianapolis clinic.

"I started my own practice in 2018 and that was an insane amount of work," said the American.
