Diabetes drug Ozempic and weight management medication Wegovy may reduce the risk of dementia, a study says.
US researchers found semaglutide - the active ingredient in both drugs - may lower the danger of dementia in people with type 2 diabetes.
Scientists believe the illness occurs when brain cells are damaged and their connections stop working properly. That damage, which worsens over time, can be caused by various modifiable factors, including cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, brain injury and stroke.
