Pressley warns Dons about Larnaca
STEVEN PRESSLEY has warned Aberdeen they'll have their work cut out against big-spending Conference League opponents AEK Larnaca on Thursday.
The Dundee manager is no stranger to Cypriot football having had an eight-month stint in charge of Pafos in 2018.
Their domestic league is now backed by big Russian investment and Pressley reckons only the Old Firm in Scotland have the financial muscle to compete with their resources.
Evidence of a Cypriot surge has been shown by AEK Larnaca in this season's Conference League.
Last month they hammered Dutch cracks AZ Alkmaar 4-0 and beat FA Cup holders Crystal Palace 1-0 in London to sit second in the 36-team league phase standings, behind Fiorentina on goal difference.
Pressley warned: “The top teams over there are really strong. It is a good league.
“You've seen that with the Cypriot clubs performing so well in Europe.
“My old club Pafos have made it to the Champions League group stage.
“People have no idea of the sort of money that is now swirling around in Cypriot football.
