Blackout warning with no nuclear back-up

THE Scottish Government has been warned that it risks electricity blackouts due to its continued opposition to nuclear power and oil and gas.

SNP ministers want clean energy to get to net zero, with wind farms, solar panels and hydrogen three of the key tenets.

But experts have warned there must be backups when the wind isn’t blowing and the sun isn’t shining, which could lead to lack of power to the National Grid.
