Prince William said candidly in a rare TV interview the past 19 months left an indelible mark on his family but ultimately made them stronger.

He revealed to Hollywood actor Eugene Levy: “I'd say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had.”

William, 43, added: “You know, life is sent to test us as well and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are." He was talking with the Schitt's Creek star over a pint of Inch's cider in a Windsor pub for an episode of Levy's comedy documentary The Reluctant Traveler.

In a preview clip the Canadian enjoys an open-top bus tour of London, saying, "Never felt more like a tourist" before he is presented with an official invitation from Kensington Palace.

The message reads: "Dear Eugene, I heard that your travels have brought you to the UK and I wondered if you might like to see Windsor Castle? "If you're free at 10 tomorrow, why don't you pop down to the castle for a private tour. Would be great to see you! With best wishes." It was signed by William.

The prince is seen arriving on his electric scooter, warmly greeting Levy in the castle's quadrangle and saying: "Nice to see you." Later William shows Levy around the landmark, joking: "We provide this service for everyone. We do personalised tours everywhere." The pair also stroll through the grounds with a black spaniel.
