3,700 more families are hit by hated death taxes

THE number of grieving families subjected to inheritance tax (IHT) has risen by 13% in just one year.
Some 31,500 estates paid the levy in 2022-23 — up 3,700 on 2021-22, figures released by HM Revenues and Customs reveal.
The period was before the cuts in business property relief and agricultural property relief — as well as the changes that mean pension pots are subject to the duty.
